Commissariat à l´Energie Atomique (CEA) visits the Southwestern Institute of Physics (SWIP)

　In May 2023, A delegation from the Institut de Recherche sur la Fusion par confinement Magnétique (IRFM) of the Commissariat à l´Energie Atomique (CEA) visited the Southwestern Institute of Physics (SWIP). Duan Xuru, Chief Expert of CNNC in nuclear fusion, Bucalossi Jerome, Director of the Magnetic Confinement Nuclear Fusion Institute of the French Atomic Energy Commission, and Grosman Andre, Deputy Director, attended the SWIP-IRFM Forum on fusion cooperation and exchange.

　　Prof. Duan delivered a speech and welcomed the visit of the IRFM delegation expressing full confidence and expectation for the continued deepening of cooperation between the two sides. Bucalossi Jerome said he was deeply impressed by the achievements of SWIP in fusion research and development in recent years. Both sides introduced the experimental progress and plan of their nuclear fusion devices (HL-3, HL-2A, West), and listened to progress reports on Sino-French fusion cooperation. They discussed about future cooperation, including nuclear fusion device experiments and simulations, key fusion technologies, and talent cultivation.

　　The IRFM delegation visited China's new generation ‘artificial Sun’ (HL-3), the ITER Enhanced High Flux First Wall Laboratory and the Nuclear Fusion Technology R&D Base under construction.
